Beach Bums

I nearly forgot all about these pics, 'til my sister posted a few on her blog. In June we took a day trip to the beach. Originally Stacy and I had planned to take the kids to the beach every other week this summer, but so far, our June trip has been our only!!
Thankfully mom and dad were able to join us because six kids turned out to be quite a handful, even with four adults!

Raegen, a.k.a. "I have no fear", took the water full force. I think he swallowed more than he swam!
My "in real life" and blog friend Holly posted about a recent trip to the pool with her kids. Her swim attire was deemed "inappropriate" because it was not marketed as swim attire, though it was made from the same material as traditional swim attire {polyester}. She posed the question
"what constitutes proper swim attire to you?"
You can read her full blog post here.
Before summer began I was very excited to find a tankini with matching skirt for my swimsuit this year. I felt it was very modest, especially compared to what is on the market. The only thing I didn't like was the low front on the top. Well, I have finally solved that issue by layering a brown tank underneath. However, I still don't feel it is modest "enough" and would prefer to use a rash guard {worn by Raegen in above picture}. I am hoping to find one on clearance as summer is coming to a quick end. Holly resorted to men's swim trunks as it was deemed "proper" by the pool manager, but I have never had any luck finding any that fit properly. Why don't they make women's swim trunks? Or do they and I just don't know about them? And I do mean shorts that come down fairly close to the knee, not the ones that barely cover your rear! ha.
If you have any tips or ideas I'd love to hear them!

Getting on with our trip to the beach...
This was baby Henry's first time to the beach...

Sadly, it wasn't a very "summery" day, but rather quite cloudy and we ended up leaving early because a storm was a brewin'!
The lighting {not, "lightning", but lighting from the sun} was great for pictures though!

Dad hung out on the beach with all the "stuff"...snacks, pails, shovels, shoes, towels....

Raegen managed to make the most of the cooler weather...

After we showered we picked up lunch and headed to the town park for a nice picnic.

Wanna wide!!

A few weeks ago my parents delivered a mower to our house
{long story short, Billy's dad bought it from my dad}.
As soon as they pulled up Raegen spotted
the mower in the back of the truck and all I heard was,
"Wanna wide! Wanna wide!"
Mom came in the house to visit and before I realized it,
Raegen was booted up and out the door!

Yessem, all he was wearing were his John Deere boots {strategically placed on the wrong feet} and his potty training pants. If you're a mother that's been through potty training you understand, if not, my apologies {and please turn a blind eye}.
~
"Daddy, I could do that if you want."

At last! He got his "wide"!

Oh boy!

Monday evening we showered baby Jonathan, mama Kibbie, and daddy Jeff with food and gifts!

My traditional diaper cake had a few tweaks this time around. Kibbie is opting to use cloth diapers {yay Kibbie!}, so the "diaper cake" was really made up of Raegen's burp cloths from his baby days. I wrapped the tiers in receiving blankets she had registered for and topped it with a big blue puppy!!

Maricela made the cake. Besides being beautifully decorated,
it was blue cake!!

There was plenty to go around!

Kibbie had five hostesses. Yes, FIVE!
Amber, Angela, Maricela, Melissa, and myself. It was a family shower so Jeff could be involved in the festivities. We chose to host on Monday night to better accomodate his work schedule. Our menu consisted of lasagna, salad, and chicken nuggets for the kiddos.
Time to give some gifts...

Uncle Marc helped entertain the little ones...

I had never seen this gift...it's a "mylittleseat" travel high chair.

Did I mention Uncle Marc helped entertain the little ones?

A few of us went together to get Kibbie and Jeff a Summer handheld color video monitor. I received one as a gift when I was pregnant with Raegen and I LOVE it. It still works perfectly after 2 1/2 years! I HIGHLY recommend that brand.

I did mention Uncle Marc was really, really great at entertaining a LOT of the kids, right?

Amber received an embroidery machine as an anniversary gift and quickly put her new found friend to work...she made this cute burp cloth...

and even cuter bib!!

And of course no baby can go without one of my signature wipe cases....
{who wants a naked wipe case?! ha.}

or baby wraps!! :)

Besides adorable clothes {btw, Kibbie really, really likes stripes and she received some really, REALLY cute striped clothes for Jonathan}, she also received this oh so sweet photo album.

"Did somebody say party?"

I think the kids had as much fun as we did. Billy was able to finish the fort {well, close enough!} and many of them enjoyed playing on it as well.

It was nice to just sit around and fellowship with everyone.

Kibbie and her host of hostesses!

We were very excited that Kibbie's mom was able to be here for the shower.

Just a few short weeks and baby Jonathan will come out to play!

Grandmother turns 87!

My Grandmother Sansoucie turned 87 on Sunday (8/23), so those that were able gathered to help her celebrate. Once again Uncle Louis made his famous cakes and family and residents alike enjoyed.

Here are a few of my cousins. Betina's little girl, Jenna, is now five months and so adorable. Her son, Jadyn, started kindergarten this year. He told me he was mistaken for a first grader...he's so tall! :)

Aunt Euna and Uncle Hugh traveled in from Florida. Here she is with our newest baby, Henry.

Raegen & Uncle Hugh
{when we were kids Justin always called him Uncle Huey....like Huey, Dewey, & Luey the three ducks!}

Raegen was quite intrigued by his beard. He graduated from rubbing his face, to his head, to his belly!!
Later that afternoon Aunt Euna and Uncle Hugh hosted a jambalaya cookout at mom and dad's. We have Sunday night church service so we were unable to attend the party, but I heard it was a lot of fun!

Sugar and Spice or Snakes and Snails?

Poll has closed. It's a BOY!!!

Take the poll located on the right side of the screen. Will we be having another baby boy or a baby girl? What do you think?

If it's any help, I haven't had any dreams {like I did with Raegen, dreaming I was having a boy} and I just don't have that "feeling" with this baby. I did have severe morning sickness that lasted through week 15, quite unlike my mild morning sickness that ended at week 12 with Raegen. That info may help or confuse you more! I'm anxious to see what everyone else thinks we're having.

Is baby #3 a boy or a girl?
