What about that quilt for baby Rebekah?? Well, I finally got all the blocks from the fam and friends and then I was just too scared to start because I didn't want to mess up. I finally just made myself begin and of course my very first stitch I had to drag out the seam ripper and tear out. ha! Stacy told me to take pics along the way and I'm glad I did. I've never made a quilt before so that's why I had so much hesitation. Sissy has made quite a few so she was a great resource for me. I also found some great websites loaded with info.
This is after I have pieced the top together, but I wasn't sure where I wanted to go from here. I ended up with a very narrow quilt so I had to throw some ideas around to figure out what my next step would be.

I've seen Sissy use safety pins to secure her top to the batting and back fabric. That method worked great for me since I don't have a quilt frame. I didn't know if I wanted to hand quilt or machine, but I eventually went with machine. It was quite cumbersome to fit the bulky quilt through the machine, but I persevered and am very happy with the end product.

I really had fun making the quilt and I hope to make more for my family and friends that are expecting baby blessings this year.

This is Raegen's square that he "made".

One big fear was the binding....how do I do it and what do I use?? :) I had wanted to use pretty satin ribbon for binding, but Mrs. Lois informed me that it tends to unravel when washed and I would like for this to be a quilt that Rebekah uses and therefore it needs to be "washer" friendly. Mrs. Lois suggested I use the same fabric for the binding that I was going to use for the back. I am very happy with my choice. I found GREAT step-by-step instructions for the binding at http://www.heatherbailey.typepad.com/
