From a 3-inch pot, to this...
Last summer was my first year to use potato vine in my flower bed. It adds great seasonal color. I think I planted this in June and it will look great through Oct/Nov. I had forgotten how it grows, and grows, and grows! It really just takes over. I like things to be a little orderly though so the above picture is just "too much" for me. The great thing about potato vine is it's quite hardy. If you're looking for a plant that only requires you to plant it...no watering, full-sun, etc., potato vine is your plant! I decided to pull up most of the plant and transfer it to some bare parts of my flower bed...
At first it looked pretty sad and droopy, but it has finally sprung back to life and looks great... I just made sure I watered it for a few weeks so it could get established again.
These sprouts are the result of potato root that was let in the ground when I pulled up the existing potato vine to move it. I have been told that if left undisturbed, potato vine will come back each year. You can't ask for an easier plant!
I had to show off my wax leaf... I put some wax leaf in pots LAST YEAR...and looky, looky, one sprung up this year! I've had that happen with pansies before too.
