Road Trip - Day Three

On Friday morning Maricela and I had big plans to attend Kibbie's Bridal Luncheon, but I failed to get directions early and we were unable to contact Kibbie that morning. All along we had been told that Kibbie was from a "small town" so I really didn't think it would be hard to find on our own. However, when we arrived in town and saw they had a Wal-Mart, we knew we weren't in Kansas anymore! I guess everyone has their own idea of a "small town". :)

All dressed up with no place to go we got online and researched a few points of interests and decided to visit Cumberland Falls State Resort Park. Like any good road trip, those navigating for us decided "this road will come out somewhere" and made an executive decision to not stick to the "main highway". I'm always up for adventure so I was game, but when the road started making 90* turns Maricela and I had doubts that this was a good decision. Soon we arrived at our destination and it made it all worth it.

Here we are heading to the falls...nevermind the tennis shoes, they're not fashionable, but they're comfy for a little hike!!

No, I am not searching for my contact, just some humor...

We were so impressed by the view and the sound of the waterfall...we just couldn't get enough pictures. We had no idea the view would just get better and better.

The website is a little misleading as far as how to get to the actual falls. We had assumed that the Cumberland Falls Trail (1/2 mi) would take us to the falls. It actually couldn't be easier, you practically park at the falls and the trails start from that point.

The falls are 125 feet across. It's referred to as the "Niagra of the South".

Photog Billy is put to work...

I just loved being here...it was just stunning. The further we walked, the better the view.

Maricela and I were amazed at how the trees can live on the rocks. Their root system must be very fragile.

"I'm King of the World!"

I decided I could scale that big rock too...and so I did! ....here's proof:

Going up wasn't so bad, but coming down was another story (at least it was for me!). There was a moment there where I thought I was just going to come crashing down. I used the old school "sit on your bum and slide all the way down" technique. Billy chose the more dignified approach...

God's creation is just amazing...these rocks are HUGE!!!! Did I emphasize HUGE??

I thought I would point out these rock layers...looks like I found the "geologic column"! Hahahaha...just kidding!! I can just hear a scientist now, "and if you'll look to your right, you will see these rocks that were formed millions, oh, I mean billions, oh, excuse me, trillions of years ago..."

I like to call this my "milky minutes" pose...

I said we should have put a toy boat upstream and watched it come over the falls...wouldn't that have been fun?

This is a picture of the former lodge...talk about a view from your room!

No more monkey business! It's game time!!

The dinner rehearsal was Friday night...finally we meet up with our comrades. At this point, it's about 10 after 7p.m., but we're busy doing what we do best...jabbering!

Here's the happy couple...looks like they've got their part under control.

After rehearsal, we had dinner at the church. The setup was beautiful and the food was terrific. We were also treated to a slideshow which included lots of pictures of Jeff eating...go figure. :) The whole process reminded me a lot of mine and Billy's happy day just three short years ago.

Afterwards we headed back to our hotel room...

It was really nice...

Marc and Amber lucked out and due to overbooking, were upgraded to a King Whirlpool room. Woohoo...now that's a treat!

But wait, it's not bedtime just yet...when I thought the man couldn't eat anymore, he proves me wrong! Actually, neither one of us were tired and Billy was a "little" hungry, so we headed over to Wendy's for a late night snack. :) He thinks if he makes these funny faces I won't use the picture...haha, jokes on him! ;)

Sugar and Spice or Snakes and Snails?

Poll has closed. It's a BOY!!!

Take the poll located on the right side of the screen. Will we be having another baby boy or a baby girl? What do you think?

If it's any help, I haven't had any dreams {like I did with Raegen, dreaming I was having a boy} and I just don't have that "feeling" with this baby. I did have severe morning sickness that lasted through week 15, quite unlike my mild morning sickness that ended at week 12 with Raegen. That info may help or confuse you more! I'm anxious to see what everyone else thinks we're having.

Is baby #3 a boy or a girl?
