I planted my beautiful pansies on Monday. I think I planted four or five flats and I still have three more flats to plant! More on that later, first have a looksie at my BEAUTIFUL petunias!! Can you believe it? With all this cold weather (including a few "freezes"!!) I thought they'd be goners by now. I don't have the heart to pull them up and replace them with pansies. I'm going to leave them until the frost gets them (if it ever does!!).
No doubt my potato vine is long gone...a wimp when it comes to cold weather. I found it amusing that this plant sprouted up through a crack in the concrete. I was able to save it before the cold weather got it.
You see, my hairdresser is a GENIUS!! Last week at my hair appt. we were blabbing about how much we love potato vine and he mentioned that he planted some IN his house. What a great idea! I pulled a few vines when I got home and placed them in water. A few days later they sprouted roots and I transferred them to an indoor pot. Now I get to enjoy it all year round.
Baked sweet potato, anyone? I cut my dead potato vines, but left the roots in the ground. Several times I came across a potato that was more on top of the ground than IN!! Case in point...
If you think that's big, check this out...
As I continued my work of cutting vines (which smelled terrible!! similar to rotting potatoes!!) I also dug up a few weeds. One time I got a handful of this...
